Rewinding Reels is an all in-house, analog-only recording production studio and label started in 2026 by writer, drummer, composer, and field recordist Daniel Sousa.

In the hills of Kingston Springs, Tennessee, Daniel creates one of a kind audio productions completely through analog means. Using portable reel to reel machines, he travels far and wide to collect raw audio to use for his immersive audio world.

Tape is then edited and mixed by hand and printed onto master tape, never having touched a computer.

His recordings are released in limited quantity runs exlusively in physical formats (cassette, CD, vinyl, and very limited reel to reel). All of which (with the exception of vinyl) are printed to order and shipped in-house in collaboration with graphic artists who work by hand.

His productions span the following:

-Custom, limited-edition audiobooks (commissions, public domain, and secured rights) with music, live casts, and foley.

-Original audio documentaries

-Original audio dramas

-Children’s stories (no-screen stories, mostly public domain/fairytales)

-Original music

-Field/Nature Audio

To help people find an easy path back to analog media, Daniel refurbishes batches of broken cassette players and offers them for sale at below-market prices.
